What Is the Canadian Sport School?

The Canadian Sport School is an athlete development and education program created by the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific and delivered locally with Engage Sport North and School District 57.

Student-athletes remain enrolled at their home high schools but follow a blended schedule that includes time at the Canadian Sport School campus. During the school day, athletes complete personalized strength and conditioning alongside academic coursework under the supervision of trained specialists and qualified teachers.

Balancing academics and athletes

High-performance athletes often manage demanding schedules that include practices, competitions, travel, recovery, and schoolwork. Without the right structure, balancing these responsibilities can become difficult for athletes and their families.

The Canadian Sport School provides student-athletes with dedicated time during the school day for both training and academics. This helps athletes manage their commitments, remain focused on graduation requirements, and continue progressing along their athletic pathway.

Who Is the Program For?

The Prince George Canadian Sport School is intended for student-athletes in Grades 10, 11, and 12 who are pursuing a high-performance athletic pathway and are committed to balancing their training with their academic responsibilities

Aligned With the CSM Mission

The Chad Staley Memorial Foundation is proud to highlight the Canadian Sport School and the opportunities it creates for student-athletes in Northern British Columbia.

Its focus on athletic development, academic achievement, health, well-being, and improved access closely reflects the Foundation’s five pillars. CSM already works with Engage Sport North on athlete-centred initiatives, and as that relationship continues to grow, the Foundation looks forward to exploring additional ways to strengthen opportunities for young athletes throughout the region.

Supporting the Program Through ForceDeck Technology

The Chad Staley Memorial Foundation supports the Canadian Sport School by sponsoring the VALD ForceDeck technology used within the program. These advanced force plates help measure areas such as strength, power, balance, movement quality, and side-to-side differences, giving student-athletes and coaches valuable information to support training, monitor development, and reduce injury risk.
