Chad Staley was a beloved son, billet son, brother, and friend whose passion for hockey and kindness toward others touched everyone who knew him. From 2012 to 2015, he proudly wore the Prince George Spruce Kings jersey, serving as captain and becoming a fan favourite for his leadership and hard work on and off the ice. He went on to play NCAA hockey at the University of Alaska–Fairbanks, where he excelled both academically and athletically, before beginning his professional career in Germany and Italy. In March 2020, at just 25 years old, Chad’s life was tragically cut short after he unknowingly took a counterfeit pill while recovering from an injury — a single, devastating accident that took away a young man full of promise. His legacy lives on in the community he loved, the teammates who became family, and the countless lives he inspired.
